Income taxes

Guess what? It is that time of year again. We get to file income taxes. Well if you live in America and have a job and make a bit of money you have to file.  It almost seems like I am in the minority anymore with illegal immigrants working and not filing income taxes yet using the benefits of our government, or the so-called small business owners that decide it is their right to cheat the government and say the government should go after the big guy. (Shaking head in disgust.)  Yes I am one of those few honest individuals that actually do what I am supposed to do. I make money and give a percentage of it to the government to keep the U.S.A. a great country.

Let me just say it sure is a very very time consuming task. First you have to wait for statements and other official forms to show up in the mail. Then you must gather all these forms together in a spot where they won't be lost. Next you must take them to a professional to assemble onto the correct IRS tax forms OR you do it yourself through a program you purchase or God forbid by hand.  Inevitably you lose a form or must wait and call up for a replacement form. It never goes smoothly. Every year I know I need my auto registration slips yet since they are to be kept in the car when I get to that section of the tax form I am tromping out to each car looking up the numbers on the registration that I need for that particular deduction. Just a pain in the you know what.

I believe the amount you have to pay is just as unfair as rest of government.  Some of the loopholes allow the well off to pay less taxes than Mr. Truly Middle class. The sad thing is Mr. Truly Middle class has little knowledge on how to change the situation yet Mr. Wealthy knows how to persuade the government how to keep things as they are so they don't pay their fair share.  Knowledge is power so I ask Mr. Truly Middle class to educate themselves to make this craziness stop!

I also hate how the computer software programs rake you over the coals with fees for this or that and upgrade this so you won't get audited.  There is more ads and junk in these filing programs than tax  ode!  On top of all that their other gimmick is they charge to FILE your taxes!  If you are  lucky enough to make little or  no $ or file by paper (which they discourage) you are paying ridiculous fees to file these required forms.

The system is so broken it is sad.

The bureaucracy makes me just shake my head. There is nothing I can do as one individual to make the changes needed to our country. Very sad.

I have my forms all filled out. I would like to submit my taxes to receive my refund that is due to me. (I paid in more taxes than I owe.)  The computer software program and the IRS say "NO you can't have your money yet as we don't have the forms finalized yet."  I don't think I could get away with that in my job.

I need that refund. I pay my property taxes with the tax refund I receive from the federal government. Yes I pay yet another set of taxes from the refund I get from the first set of taxes I pay.  The U.S.A. isn't such a great place any more if you are one of the honest people.  I may need to retire to another country!!!

One color and style does not fit me

Some ladies keep their hair style the same for decades!  Luckily I do not have a problem changing either my style OR my color. I love making it different. Is it always my favorite - no, but it sure is fun experimenting and trying new things. It is one of just a few things that I can change and have total control over.

The last change I made had so many people commenting that all those comments inspired this blog post. The guys I saw at work and out and about all went GA-GA over the color.  The gals either just stared at me or actually told me they did NOT like it. WTH??? I would never tell anyone I did not like their hair unless they were a close friend and asked for an honest opinion, but these people just had to let me know they did NOT like my hair.  These gals were just acquaintances. I thought it was amusing and absurd at the same time. I really don't care what they think but took their opinions with grace and my usual smile.

I thought I would share with you readers the various colors and styles of my hair over the last 5 years or so. I don't think I have a favorite but as I am putting together this blog I am all ready thinking about how I want to change my hair next time! I have my appointment scheduled in 2 days. :-)

One problem with my hair is that it grows horribly slow. I can go months and you can't even tell it has grown. So when I want to change styles of hair I have to be prepared to have that style for the long haul as it will take a long time to grow back out.

Here is to having fun with your hair. Don't be shy or afraid to change it. Just do it!

Enjoy the photos that follow, they are in NO particular order:

Above is my style for 2 more days...

How to see more of my blogs!

Blogger does not seem very friendly in moving from one blog to another. This is just my experience. If I read a person's blog and think "Oh I want to read more." BUT the stupid next blog button takes me to another persons blog and the one I wanted to read is forever gone!

Alas! I have  found a way to read more. It is in the lovely address bar.

Let's say you find this blog and LOVE it.

http://anoceanofthoughts.blogspot.com/2013/01/toilet-cleaning-required-life-training.html

You want to read more by this person but do not see anything on the screen that says next entry or you just don't feel like subscribing by email.

It really is this easy.  Go up to the address bar and backspace so now it looks like this:

http://anoceanofthoughts.blogspot.com

You will see the person's last few blogs.

So simple and you will not have lost someone you want to read more about!

Hope this tidbit helps you!

Have a great week all.

Sisters

I have had this blog for a while now so I thought it was about time to talk about one of my favorite people - My Sister!

She is great. No that is an understatement. She puts up with me. She tells me like it is. She loves me for me. She stands up for me and doesn't stab me in the back. We seem to go through a lot of the same things and it is nice to have someone relate and be there for me. She is corny and off the wall. She is not afraid to try new things. She is as opinionated as I am so it makes for lively debates!  We live W-A-Y to far apart but still manage to stay close via our cell phones (Thank God).

Soon we will be having our annual shopping trip. We each drive about 1/2 way and meet up for an entire day of shopping, laughing, eating, and "green fog". (Only SHE will get that last one.)

She is a beautiful person - inside and out. She is spunky and smart and fun to be around. Everyone should have a sister like her and I am glad she is mine!!!

I love you sista!

Blast from the past

I found an O-L-D blog from a different website. I had to share. It is classic. I hope you think so.

There has been this blog sitting just OUT of reach in my sub conscious ALL day. I can feel it there and just when I think I know it will pop out it goes back in.

Hmm.... Kinda like constipation.

Blogging constipation - what a concept.

Where is the blogging laxative. I want to get it out!

Sometimes I crack myself up...I guess that is what is important.

Toilet Cleaning - required life training

How many toilets have you cleaned lately? Do you clean your own? I'm surprised how many people can not answer yes to that question. Even worse, how many toilets have you cleaned that belong to other people or public toilets?

Now you may ask why on earth would I want to do such a nasty dirty job? Well someone has to clean them right? Do you think you are so much better than those people that clean toilets for a living? Those folks deserve a lot more respect than you probably give them! I'm sure you have seen people cleaning public restrooms in addition to your own if you hire it done. Do you thank them? Do you tell them you very much appreciate the work they are doing? Heck do you even acknowledge their presence and smile at them? Well you should if you don't.

I will take it one step further. If you have never cleaned a public toilet you should. I guarantee it will be a very humbling experience. You may gag and you may even vomit, but clean up after yourself and think about things for a while. You are equal to those people that clean toilets - no better - no worse but the same. The next time YOU make a mess in a public toilet, clean it up. Don't leave it for those poor workers to clean up after you. They wake up and go to a job just like you. They are doing their best, why make their day worse? Isn't your job on earth to help others out?

There are even stories about this in the bible. No, not cleaning toilets but being humble. Stories about washing guests feet. That is a similar humbling thing to do. One lady went so far as to using her own hair to wash Jesus feet. That woman is to be admired even if she was a nobody to others around her. It is all done to make a point.

Now, let's take this one step further. How many toilets have your children cleaned? If they are above age 10, they need to do this. They need to be taught this valuable lesson in life. Half way cleaning will not get the story to sink in. Heck, I make my kids go do - over many times and I still wonder if any of these lessons sink in. They tell me I am a "mean mom" and NO ONE ELSE EVER has to do such things. Well all those other people are just missing out on values in life all people need to have.  Go show your children how to clean toilets. It will be a great teaching moment on multiple levels.

Yep, only I could write a blog about how cleaning toilets is a valuable lesson in this thing we call life!

Really, I am just trying to get you thinking...
